The Executive MBA Council Asia Regional Meeting was held on April 15th and 16th. This year's theme revolved around the opportunities, issues and challenges faced by Asian/Chinese EMBA programs. Over 50 business school deans and EMBA program directors attended the meeting.
In the afternoon session of the 15th, RBS Associate Dean Prof. Song Hua made a speech to introduce the innovation of RBS' EMBA program. As one of the first schools to run EMBA in China, RBS is committed to educating practice-oriented business leaders and therefore launched a SOAR plan in response to the traditional mode of EMBA, meaning Science, Organization, Arts and Reflection. Participants in the SOAR plan are able to experience institutional support, teaching of first-class faculty, understanding of Chinese business practices and integration of international elements. Prof. Song also introduced another innovative stream developed by RBS' EMBA program, CMPM. He pointed out that in the current transitional period when China is seeing rapid growth, RBS' EMBA program is endeavoring to work with executives to develop organization skills tied to their corporate goals, including ablity to assess operation and management from different angles, ability to adopt different analytical and decision-making tools, and better understanding on the essence of certain phenomina.
RBS Dean, Prof. Mao Jiye, delivered a presentation on the challenges faced by China, in which he pinpointed five key areas of the global trend of EMBA program, which are
- emphasis on leadership and entrepreneurship cultivation, corporate social responsibility and ethics;
