On November 10, at the 15th conference of the Management Forum of Overseas Scholars held by Department of Organization and Human Resources of RBS, Prof. Peter Ping Li from Copenhagen Business School delivered the report titled “The meta-paradigm of creative cognition: Complexity, ambiguity, and metaphor” in which he made systematic introduction and theoretical exploration “Wu” (enlightenment) on the basis of western and eastern literature on philosophical and scientific research.
Prof. Ping Li took the lively example of western and eastern medical treatment to confirm the big difference of scientific research. He thought that in terms of knowledge creation western science has advantages on knowledge evaluation and assessment, while eastern philosophy is more instrumental to knowledge creation.
Prof. Ping Li pointed out that in respect of creative scientific research, researchers should stick to tuition, enlightenment and complex thinking. He proved that creativity originates in researcher’s tuition and non-rational thinking by citing examples of historical events and Chinese and Western literature. “Creativity comes from tuition, while logic is for inference and evaluation. Eastern way of thinking stresses integration, complexity and enlightenment, which is just what scientific innovation needs. At the end of lecture, Prof. Ping Li encouraged Chinese researchers to take advantage of eastern thinking and culture in scientific research.
