Execute Director of Technology of ICAEW attended the Bi-weekly Forum of Department of Accounting

　　On November 10, Mr. Robert ·Hodgkinson, Execute Director of Technology of ICAEW, attended the Bi-weekly Forum held by Department of Accounting and delivered a speech on business and finance for Master’s and PhD students.
　　Mr. Hodgkinson firstly explained the role of accounting in business world and analyzed the  the significance, challenges and prospects of accounting. Next, he put forward his view on the cause of frequent changes of the role accounting has played, which led to lively discussions among students present at the forum.
　　During the second round of presentation, , Mr. Hodgkinson talked about the effect of business patterns on financial reports and mentioned that not only the Financial Accounting Standard Board has planned to discuss this issue in this December but also the European financial reporting consultants panel were preparing reports on this matter. He said “Obviously, the significance of business pattern is getting more attention in the accounting circle.” He also expatiated on his research interest by explaining the principles of business economics and analyzing both positive and negative effects of business patters and finished his presentation with three conclusions: 1. financial reports interrelate and interact with business patterns; 2. business pattern has both positive and negative effects; 3. financial reports determine the effectiveness of business patterns.
