The China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee recently held a meeting in Shanghai to review the cases competing for this year’s National Top 100 Management Cases. The case competition is now in its 6th consecutive year. Finally, 94 cases contributed by 47 institutions got the award, including the 3 developed by RBS faculty as below:
On 8 October 2015, RBS held a seminar on inter-disciplinary case development, attended by Professor Yi Zhihong, Vice President of RUC; Professor Mao Jiye, Dean of RBS; Professor Song Hua, Associate Dean of RBS; Professor Zhi Xiaoqiang, Associate Dean of RBS, Professor Feng Yunxia and other faculty members from Department of Organization and Human Resources.
Inter-disciplinary case studies are strongly advocated at RUC as a good way to enhance research competency and teaching innovation based on the university’s long-standing predominance in humanities and social sciences. RBS, as a pioneer, has been an expert in inter-disciplinary case development and teaching. At present, it has two teams working with a few other schools on inter-disciplinary case development around a variety of topics.
Professor Yi Zhihong, Vice President of RUC, stressed the importance of interdisciplinary case development and that faculty members engaged in this can apply for funding from the university’s Academic Research Office starting from this year. Interdisciplinary cases, she said, could be one or more case series focused on one organization but from different disciplinary perspectives or concentrating on one theme but from micro- and macro-perspectives. The development of inter-disciplinary cases helps enrich teaching and develop theories. President Yi talked about RBS’ history and experience in case development and teaching, and pointed out that the school should make good use of available resources
