On September 27, 2024, the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) officially announced that Renmin Business School (RMBS) had successfully obtained the five-year reaccreditation of the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). This marks the third time RMBS has obtained this accreditation after the initial accreditation.
From September 2023 to May 2024, RMBS established an accreditation team and, through the collective efforts of all faculty and staff, successfully completed the high-quality preparation for the EQUIS accreditation. In June 2024, commissioned by EFMD, a team of peer reviewers, Metka Tekavcik, former dean of School of Economics and Business at University of Ljubljana, Finbarr Murphy, Dean of Kemmy Business School at University of Limerick in Ireland, Jennifer George, Dean of Melbourne Business School at University of Melbourne, and Walter Stepanek, Business Partner and Compliance Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa at IBM, reviewed the Self-Assessment Report and conducted a three-day on-site peer review visit. The team held in-depth discussions with the university and school leadership, faculties, students, and alumni, comprehensively assessing RMBS' achievements over the past five years in areas such as students, research & development, talent cultivation, social responsibility & sustainability, connection with practice, Executive Education, and internationalization.
The peer review team highly praised the RMBS’ excellence in education quality, internationalization, connection with practice, and social responsibility, expressing confidence in RMBS’ future success.
EQUIS is one of the most prestigious accreditation systems for business schools globally. As of September 2024, over 200 top business schools worldwide have obtained this accreditation. RMBS first obtained EQUIS accreditation in 2010 and has successfully been reaccredited three times, in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
RMBS is one of the first business schools in China to obtain dual global business institutional accreditations from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and EQUIS. Founded in 1916, AACSB is the world’s longest-standing accreditation for business education. Through rigorous peer reviews, it drives continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and talent cultivation across global business schools. RMBS initially obtained AACSB accreditation in 2013, followed by its first five-year reaccreditation in 2018 and a second five-year reaccreditation in 2023.
