On the evening of January 7, 2013, the first lecture of the 2013 China Growth Forum sponsored by RBS was held at the Executive Education Center of RBS. Professor Huang Weiping, the former dean of the School of Economics, RUC, and specialist lecturer at the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, delivered a presentation on “Chinese Economic Trend and Corporate Strategy after the Eighteenth National Congress” to over two hundred enterprise managers.

Professor Huang Weiping pointed out that the main points of the Eighteenth National Congress are to “Neither follow the old and rigid closed-door policy, nor head in the other extreme direction” and to “Follow the policy of socialism with Chinese characteristics”. “Reform is the most critical keyword in the report,” especially with regards to the reform of the income distribution system so that the results of development are shared by all the Chinese people. Professor Huang emphasized the work being done to “make residents’ income and the economy develop at the same speed, and compensation and productivity rise simultaneously”.


Professor Huang pointed out in his presentation that the core issues discussed at the Central Economic Conference were related to stable economic growth, development reform and economic structure adjustment. With the basic strategy of expanding domestic demand, a number of consumption growth points will be developed to strengthen the key role consumption plays in investment in economic growth. The three driving forces in the reform of economic development are quality, effectiveness and sustainability..
