ABSTRACT:
Learning is fundamental to entrepreneurship. Using the theoretical perspective of self-regulation, we develop and test a model suggesting that contingency of self-worth (CSW) influences to what extent proactive behaviors translate into learning. We further posit the amount of learning matters for new venture progress. We tested our theoretical model in 2 studies of entrepreneurs with one baseline measurement and eight repeated measurements of 491 and 571 observations respectively. The results support the model and contribute to our understanding of the antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurial learning.
