To promote the development of case study on business management across the Straits, the Renmin Business School and the NTU College of Management joined hands to provide the cooperative EMBA course module entitled Institutional Transformation and Operation Model Studies. This module discusses and examines how to build effective operation models and capacities at the time of China’s system transition, by focusing the distinctive faculty from both schools on the study of business cases across the Straits.
Faculty and Students from the RBS & the NTU College of Management
During the time from May 30th to June 2nd, the NTU EMBA faculty and students joined the RBS EMBA counterparts at the RBS EMBA Center for a study on the Growth and Operation Models of Mainland Enterprises. The EMBA students were divided into 6 groups and discussed 7 business cases in the 4-day module.
Based upon the “constructive” trait of EMBA study, the EMBA professors from both schools designed the module by taking into account of the teaching objectives, content and organization as a whole. The teaching objectives of this module is to “share the outcomes of joint efforts in developing Chinese business cases by scholars across the Straits, and explore the unique management thinking with Chinese characteristics.” There were 7 cases adopted in this module including Sichuan Airlines, lefeng.com, Coco Tea and Wal-Mart, with multiple industrial backgrounds varying from manufacturing, retail distribution and tourism to IT. By means of the discussion, analysis and interpretation of cases from different angles, this module provided the EMBA students with new perspectives on the planning of their companies’ growth models in the Greater China region and aimed to inculcate students with a sophisticated mental model.
