President Hu Jintao visits Renmin University and its Affiliated High School

On the 26th Teacher’s Day, the President of PRC Hu Jintao visited Renmin University of China and its affiliated high school. President Hu learned the progress of education reform, held cordial talks with students, teachers and staff and conveyed festival greetings to the teaching faculties on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

During his talks with student and teacher representatives, President Hu stated that as the first new pattern university established by the Communist Party of China in 1950, RUC has been upholding its mission, “To Educate for the People, to Conduct Scholarship for the Country.” RUC nurtured generations of talents and accomplishing remarkable research achievements over the past 60 years which have made significant contributions to the development of the Party and the country.
President Hu also pointed out that students, faculty and staff should carry forward our fine traditions, continuously promote innovation, enhance the quality of education and strive to nourish more talents with exceptional creativity and attain progress in humanities and social science to further advance the modernization of China. President Hu sincerely hopes that RUC would develop into a world-renowned university that is approved by and satisfies the people.
