On December 10th, RBS’ Department of Accounting held an international accounting research workshop, aiming to promote the internationalization of its accounting research, intensify the academic exchange with world-renowned scholars and editors of top-tier journals, and enhance the productivity of high quality international publications.
The workshop mainly dealt with accounting and corporate finance topics, which was attended by Professor Michael Welker and Assistant Professor Ning Zhang from Queen’s University, Canada, Professor Kim Jeong Bon from City University of Hong Kong, researchers from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Normal University and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and faculty and students from RBS’ Department of Accounting and Department of Finance.
Professor Welker, Deputy Chief Editor of a world-class journal Contemporary Accounting Research, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Publishing International Accounting Research in Top-Tier Accounting Journals”, where he proposed valuable viewpoints and suggestions regarding utility of international data in publishing world-class publications. Another keynote speech “Humble Accounting, Institutional Infrastructure, and Stock Price Crash Risk” was given by Professor Kim, who shared his study of stock price crash risk and discussed how accounting researchers should optimize the resources allocation efficiency to make contributions to the economic growth.
