The FTChinese Annual Forum 2014 was held on November 17th, attracting over 300 participants from domestic and overseas companies, business associations, business schools and media agencies.
Angela Mackay, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Financial Times, remarked in her welcome and opening address that having witnessed the successful APEC Summit in Beijing, Alibaba’s new record in this year’s November 11 on-line shopping extravaganza, U.S.-China joint announcement on climate change, and the U.S.’ new visa policy for Chinese citizens, we will avail of this year’s forum to foster in-depth understandings on the role of these milestones achieved last week in China’s future economic growth.
RBS Dean Jiye Mao attended the round-table discussion themed “How Chinese Business Schools are Responding Globalization”, together with Zhou Lin, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management,Shanghai JiaoTong University, Bernard YEUNG,Dean of NUS Business School, Singapore, Alfons Sauquet, Dean of ESADE, Spain and Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, Dean of the IE Business School, during which he pointed out “all business schools are faced with challenges, but the core of these challenges lies at improving management education quality through better goal management and scientific research, not just allocating resources. Another key factor is how to deal with changes. China is changing very rapidly, due to two reasons, one being globalization and another one being technological advance, development of Internet particularly. In this sense, what changes are happening around us, and how we are changing in response are the common challenges faced by all business schools.”
