Faculty Development in International Business

RBS co-sponsored the pedagogical program Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) from June 22nd to 26th, 2015, attracting over 20 participants from the school and a few other Chinese institutions. This annual faculty and professional overseas study program, sponsored and lead-managed by Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, is now in its 27th consecutive year.  This year, the program aimed to expand participants’ global horizon and enhance their qualifications.

The five-day program focused on three topics, including International Management, Global Operations and Supply Chain Management, and IB Research and Teaching in China: An Economic Perspective.

 

The sessions on International Management were given by Tatiana Kostova, professor of international business at the Moore School, Vice President of the Academy of International Business, Chair of the International Management Division of the Academy of Management, and Director of FDIB Program. Professor Tatiana elaborated on international competition strategy, organizational structure and capability, internal governance, global leadership, innovation and information management for multinational corporations.

 

The sessions on Global Operations and Supply Chain Management were delivered by Manoj K. Malhotra, professor of management science at the Moore School, and member of Decision Science Institute (DSI) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS). They focused on operations and supply chain management in the global context, and in particular cross-border production and distribution of commodities and services.
