The Fifth National Congress of China Association of Information Systems (CNAIS) was held on October 17-19 in Guiyang city, Guizhou. Over 350 delegates participated in the conference, representing university researchers in the fields related to information management and information systems from all over the country. During the conference, 103 new council members were elected, including 34 members of the standing council, and six vice presidents and the president. Professor Mao Jiye was elected the new president of the association. Professor Wang Kanliang deputy vice president and secretary-general, Professor Zuo Meiyun of the School of Information deputy secretary-general. Following the leadership change, the secretariat of the association will relocate from Tsinghua University to Renmin University of China.
CNAIS is the Chinese chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), which is affiliated with the Systems Engineering Society of China. CNAIS is the professional organization of university researchers in China in information management and information systems related fields. Its mission is to promote exchange between domestic scholars and their overseas counterparts, and to advance research and teaching in information management and information systems related fields. The national congress takes place once every two years. The conference theme for this year was “Information Systems Research and Practices in the Context of Big Data.” Participants presented their research related to emerging information technologies such as mobile computing, the Internet of things, and cloud computing, and new challenges and opportunities that arise from the application of social media, collaborative innovation, and virtual services. Close to a dozen faculty members from the School of Business and School of Information were present at the conference.
