Recommended by some ten professors of economics and management from the University of Rhode Island and the government of Rhode Island, Prof. Gu Kejian was successfully selected as the distinguished international visiting scholar by the Honors Visiting Scholars Committee for a funded academic visit in 2012.
The program took place at the University of Rhode Island from September 30 to October 7, 2012. Prof. Gu Kejian delivered two academic lectures during Multi-Cultural Week, named Managerial Issues in Foreign Invested Enterprise in the Transforming China and Real -Financial Linkages in the Globe: How US Monetary Policies Affect Renminbi? Seven interactive activities also took place between Prof. Gu and the postgraduates and undergraduates from the College of Business Administration, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Human Science and Services. Prof. Gu met the dean of the College of Business Administration Prof. Mark Higgins, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Prof. Winifred E. Brownell, the dean of the College of Human Science and Services Prof. Lori Ciccomascolo and the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Prof. Laura L. Beauvais. The staff and students who took part in the activities were impressed by Prof. Gu’s informative and vivid lectures on China’s opening up in the new globalized environment.
The Distinguished Visiting International Scholars Program is designed to support the scholarly mission and global perspective of the University of Rhode Island. The program provides funds to support hosting two international scholars or scholar-practitioners to URI each semester to deliver lectures and academic activities.
