Make Contributions to China: 70 Years of Management Education - Renmin Business School 70th Anniversary Celebration

On October 31, Renmin Business School held its 70th anniversary celebration in the auditorium of Guoxue Building.

Senior Associate Dean Prof. HUANG Jiangming extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and expressed sincere gratitude for their support.

Some junior teachers presented flowers to eleven retired professors to show, on behalf of all the faculty members, appreciation for their outstanding contributions to the school.

ZHU Xinkai, Vice President of Renmin University of China, delivered a celebratory message. He greeted the school’s faculty, students and alumni, and encouraged the school to continue to enhance teaching and learning, fulfill social responsibilities and drive social changes with case-based research on digital transformation, and nurture talents and leaders for the society.

ZHOU Mingde, president of the Alumni Council, expressed his best wishes to the School and lit up the “blessings” from alumni around the world together with the vice presidents present.

YANG Du and LU Guangjun, representing the undergraduate class of 1982, delivered speeches. 

YANG Du, a professor at the school, told the audience 5 stories between him and the school in his keynote speech titled “You and Me”. LU Guangjun briefed on the alumni’s commitment to promoting art education among primary school students in the rural areas and funding reforestation efforts in the Alxa Area.

ZHU Futang, an MBA alumni representative, made a presentation in which he commended the school for the great learning platform and thanked the faculty for having helped shave their values.

Prof. LI Xiaoguang, the lead author of a book on the school’s advances in academic disciplines, reviewed the milestones in the school history, noting its major contributions to the business administration discipline as the pioneer of business administration education and research in China.

Pro. HUANG Weiwei, also a senior advisor at Huawei, talked about the shifts in the national economic system and industrial strategies and introduced Huawei’s management approaches and mechanisms. He noted that the school should carry on management education reform to keep up with the times.

CHEN Xiaoping, Philip Condit Endowed Chair Professor in the Foster School of Business, talked about the connotation and implementation of conscientious business logic with the Starbucks as an example.

Finally, Dean Professor MAO Jiye made a keynote speech on “Making Contributions to China: 70 Years of Management Education”. He shared with the audience the school’s strategic initiatives on social entrepreneurship, digital transformation and innovation, and case-based research among others.

In celebration of the 70th anniversary, the school also held 18 impactful research seminars and a series of sessions entitled "Dialogues with Entrepreneurs". It also marked the 30th anniversary of its MBA program and the 15th anniversary of its MPAcc program by hosting the 2020 (4th) Fintech and Industrial Finance Innovation Forum, the Forum on Digitalization-Based Accounting Innovation, the 2020 Annual Meeting of MBA&MPAcc Advisory Committee, the first MBA Management Case Competition, and the Summit on Digital Transformation of Chinese Enterprises.
