RBS Held Orientation for Exchange Students of 2017 Spring Semester

On 22 February 2017, RBS held orientation for exchange students of 2017 spring semester at Room304, Mingde Business Building. The orientation is organised by RBS International Relations Office, and assisted by International Exchange Department of Student Union. 87 exchange students from15 countries and regions attended the orientation.

Before the orientation started, exchange students received a welcome gift along with a greeting card. After they took their seats, exchange students were encouraged to talk freely with their neighbors and introduce their newly-meet friends to other students. All the students presented enthusiasm and made acquaintance despite of the cultural background.

At 14:30, the orientation officially started. Firstly, Caroline Xu, the Director of RBS International Relations Office, gave warm welcome to all exchange students, and introduced School of Business, Renmin University of China in terms of history, academic resource and campus environment. To help exchange students get further understanding of Chinese culture and fully enjoy their stay, Ms Xu showed some promotion videos of famous cities in China.

Next, Veronica Xiao, the inbound exchange coordinator, explained details of RBS exchange program, online course registration, and important notices concerning exams and accommodation during exchange period.

After that, Luo Xiaowen and Yuan Haili , the chairperson and vice chairperson of the International Exchange Department of the RBS Students Union, introduced the department and the voluntary  project, Buddy Program and the upcoming events. Buddy Program, a bridge connecting local and international students, offers exchange students service on airport pick-up, registration, campus tour and academy. Yves-Bernard, the 2016-2017 full year exchange student of RBS, shared his life experience and feelings and encouraged all the international students to discover the beauty of their life in RUC.

Later, Wu Tianjiao , introduced the theme and serial activities of Language Bridge Program, which is aimed to improve Chinese language capability of exchange students. Besides, the student club, Wenyuan Hanfu, presented the traditional costume culture of Han Dynasty and invite exchange students to experience the taste of Ancient China.

Finally, international students registered for the following orientation events and took their language module test. All participants took group photos after the orientation meeting.

In the following week, RBS Buddy Program will hold a series of wonderful events for exchange students, for examples, authentic Beijing Hotpot, one-day trip to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City.
