The first multimedia case jointly developed by RBS and Yale School of Management (Yale SOM)—“Ant Financial: Flourishing Farmer Loans at MYbank” is now available online. It is the first online multimedia case of its kind in China that studies a local business based on first-hand research data and video clips of interviews.
Ant Financial case
On March 10, 2017, the case was taught in the last capstone MBA course of the first academic year at Yale SOM and well received by teachers and students. It has been included in RBS’ and Yale’s case databases, accessible to the other 27 member schools of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM).
The online multimedia case on Anti Financial, unlike traditional Harvard’ cases, leverages Yale SOM’s raw case template, and, with words, videos, pictures, charts and related links, gives full analysis of the innovative practice of MYbank (an offshoot of Anti Financial) that uses big data and cloud computing to provide credit-scoring and financial services for rural customers who are most often neglected by traditional banks.
The case study lasted one year and three months. With substantial support from Ant Financial, and co-authored by senior faculty members from both schools, it marks successful academic collaboration at institutional level, and helps promote Chinese business’ management practice overseas.
Now, RBS and Yale SOM are working together on another two cases: TECSUN in Suzhou City and Shared Harvest Form in Beijing. Both schools look to embark on more joint cases that showcase local Chinese companies’ management practice.
