RMBS Business Administration-Law Experimental Class Selected as One of the Top Interdisciplinary BA Dual Degree Programs in Beijing

On May 18, 2021, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Academic Degrees released the list of top Interdisciplinary BA Dual Degree Programs in Beijing for 2021. Five programs from Renmin University of China (RUC) were selected, including the BA Dual Degree Program in Administration and Law jointly run by the Business School and the School of Law.

The School will continue to upgrade the curriculum and assure the quality of learning to meet students’ needs and address social problems.

Program Introduction

The program dates back to 2009 when the Business Administration-law Experimental Class was launched.

Every year, the experimental class would enroll 30 students, 15 from the business school and 15 from the law school. Upon completion of the required credits, students obtain a major degree and a minor degree. Up to now, the Class has 123 graduates.

Now the upgraded dual degree program can offer students two major degrees in business administration and law at the same time, which will make it easier for students to obtain master degree in law, take judicial examinations, and seek job opportunities. The Program has the following features:

First, discipline integration. It blends two top-ranked disciplines (business administration and law) to give full play to the advantages.

Second, curriculum integration. The School attaches great importance to integrated curriculum development, promotes the reform of pedagogical approaches and innovation of training mode, and highlights the interdisciplinary characteristics.

Third, the integration of students. The Program enrolls students through the National College Entrance Examination, and students are assigned to the same class after entering the two schools, which facilitates interactions and communication.

Fourth, the integration of practice and employment. The students engage in interdisciplinary practice under the joint mentorship of teachers from both schools. Also, interdisciplinary learning widens student’s career prospects.

The Program is based mainly on the business administration discipline. In 2017, Renmin University’s business administration discipline (under the Business School) was rated as A+ (highest level) in the 4th round of national assessment of first-tier disciplines by the Ministry of Education, and was recognized as having the potential to be a world-class discipline by the MOE.
