On September 19, 2012, Professor Zhihong Yi, Vice President of RUC and Dean of RBS, and Professor Jiye Mao, Associate Dean of RBS, met with Ms. Julia Herries, the Asia-Pacific Regional Director of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).
Established in 1954, GMAC is an association of non-profit education providers headquartered in the US. Currently it boasts over 200 well-known b-schools from across the globe as its members. The Graduate Management Admission Test (or GMAT) hosted by GMAC has been accepted by over 2,000 b-schools and 4,600 management education programs around the world (RBS included) as an admission requirement to evaluate candidates’ eligibility and potential to further study in business management. So far, 5 universities in mainland China are members of GMAC, including Tsinghua University and Peking University.
Ms. Herries first briefed RBS leaders on the current development of GMAC, and its growth in the Asia-Pacific region in particular. She and Prof. Yi discussed RBS’ application for GMAC membership and gave advice on the preparation of application materials and application procedures. Ms. Herries said that she would be pleased to recommend RBS for GMAC membership as this would benefit both organizations.
Prof. Yi thanked Ms. Herries for her support of the application, and hoped that RBS would join GMAC at an early date. At the end of the meeting, Ms. Herries invited RBS to attend the GMAC Global Symposium in Singapore in November, which she hoped could further exchanges and cooperation and promote mutual growth.
