On June 20, 2012, the first Global Forum on Financial Management in China was held at the School of Business, Renmin University of China (Renmin Business School-RBS).
As an alumnus of Renmin University of China (RUC), Assistant Minister and member of the party leadership of the Ministry of Finance, PRC, Mr. Hu Jinglin delivered the opening speech. He noted the great contributions the Department of Accounting and the Department of Financial Management of Renmin Business School (RBS) have made to research, education, reform and development of fiscal policies in China. The Assistant Minister expressed his wish that the Forum could develop into an excellent platform for professionals of all circles to share expertise, build consensus and contribute to the practice of fiscal and financial management in China.
Professor Yi Zhihong, Vice President of RUC and Dean of RBS made a few remarks. She observed that the profound changes in the business environment and financial management practice in China have raised many new issues and challenges in both research and practice. Professor Yi hoped the Forum would focus on discussions of issues of great relevance in the context of globalization, improve Chinese companies’ competency in financial management theories and usher in a period of continued breakthroughs in research on the practice of financial management in China.
The Forum drew nearly 400 senior financial executives from ministries and commissions of the central government, major State-owned Enterprises, private businesses and listed companies based in and out of China. With 7 speeches and 2 sub-forums they discussed the growth of CFOs and the issues of financial management in Chinese enterprises against the backdrop of a rapidly changing global economy. The Forum was very successful in exploring new ideas and models of financial management for Chinese enterprises.
