Abstract:
Drawing on the perspective of multiple institutional logics, we investigate the dual institutional logics (state vs. market) in the context of new product development (NPD) strategy by China’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) firms. We theorize that NPD strategy of BEV firm can positively influence sales performance through both state logic and market logic, while market logic will be enhanced by state logic in this relationship. We find strong support for these ideas by analyzing BEV population of 705 observations from 24 provinces of China during 2012 and 2018.
