On December 26th and 27th 2015, the 2016 RBS New Year Forum, in the theme of survival of enterprises in the reform era of China, was hosted at RUC Run Run Shaw Conference Center with the assistive organization of RBS EMBA and EE Center.

Mao Jiye, Dean of RBS, in his opening speech, firstly dedicated his gratitude to the attendance of Liu Wei, the president of RUC, and then delivered a warm welcome to over 400 alumni who come back to pursue their academic life, giving them a brief introduction of recent achievements and innovations of RBS, and the strategic goal of becoming the business school with “most profound understanding of Chinese management”.
Opening Speech by Mao Jiye
The first keynote speech after the opening ceremony was given by Liu Wei. Themed “A Prospect of Chinese Economy in the 13th Five-year Plan”, it fully interpreted the three hot issues of Chinese Economy:
1.The challenge and opportunity for current economic growth;
2.The problems and causes of current economic growth;
3.The correspondent adjustment of macroeconomic policies
The 13th Five-year is the crucial period for China’s leap from upper-middle income economy to upper income economy. However, the middle income trap may loom ahead: on the hand, the rapidly increasing costs of labor, natural resources, environment, and technological progress are pulling up the total cost of national economic productivity; on the other hand, the declining demand for investment and consumption often goes with high unemployment rates.
