Ye Kangtao: Cultivation of Transnational Management Talents is Inseparable from Humanities Education

Time:2018-04-24

On April 19th, the third Xinhuanet Business School salon themed “foreseeing 2020, how Business education serves innovative China” opened in Beijing. Business School leaders, MBA center directors and representatives of education from more than 30 prestigious universities in China gather together to discuss how to advance business education with times and serve the national strategy.

Under the background of globalization, “Belt and Road “initiative brings new opportunities for the development of the world economy. How to produce high-quality transnational management talents to promote enterprise internationalization has become an urgent problem.

Ye Kangtao, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Renmin Business School (RMBS), said that “we find many problems cannot be solved merely by management. Some supplement human knowledge, economic knowledge, political knowledge and cultural knowledge can help better cope with the challenges of international management.”

“Talents from Business School can be a guarantee for Chinese enterprises to go globally. The international management of enterprises is not entirely a problem of management, nor a merely economic problem, but it may involve political and cultural issues.”

According to Ye, Renmin University of China became a member of Social Impact & Global Management Alliance (SIGMA) in 2017. SIGMA is made up of nine international first-class universities in Humanities and Social Sciences. Besides RUC, there are Copenhagen Business School, ESADE Business School,

Fundacao Getulio Vargas, GV, University of St. Gallen, Vienna University of Economics and Business, Singapore Management University, University of Paris Dauphine and Hitotsubashi University. SIGMA aims to promote the combination of interdisciplinary teaching and production research, the transformation of academic achievements and the students’ social practice experience. Meanwhile, the concept “management and humanities” is also put forward in a creative way.  Ye also mentioned that “At present, RMBS has established a good basis for cooperation with most SIGMA alliance universities. In the future, the cooperation will cover largely multilateral students flow, teacher visits, degree programs, internship projects and joint academic conferences. At the same time, RMBS hopes to further innovate curriculum system and expand various forms of cooperation with alliance universities.”

Nowadays, China’s products have been seen at every corner of the world while Chinese brand has not yet been known to the world. Ye believes that “Although our brand is not an advantage but we can add some Chinese features to our brand to make it a unique advantage.” He further explained, people are tired of standardized and conventional things but we can make it to be an advantage if we discover some cultural elements from China itself.

Under the back ground of globalization, “Belt and Road” initiative brings new opportunities as well as challenges for the development of world economy. Ye expressed the willingness that Business School and Chinese enterprises will join together to cultivate international talents to help enterprises better go globally.
