Established in 1950, the Department of Accounting at Renmin University of China is where the theories of “management accounting perspective” originated from. In late 2003, the Business School, Renmin University of China (RMBS), along with several other institutions, was authorized to pilot run the MPAcc Program by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education. The Secretariat of the National Professional Accounting Education Steering Committee is also housed at the School.

Built on rich faculty resources, the MPAcc program has formed a widely recognized curriculum that trains outstanding accounting professionals with both profound theoretical knowledge and good practical skills.

In 2015, the School was among the first to be accredited by the Accreditation for Accounting Professional Education Quality (AAPEQ). In July 2018, the China Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center under the Ministry of Education announced the outcomes of its 1st round of national professional master programs assessment. Renmin University of China is recognized as top-tier (highest level: A+). In September 2018, the program won the first prize of “the China National Best Programs for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Outcomes”.
