On Dec.11, the EQUIS peer review team visited Renmin Business School, and had a meeting with the top management of Renmin University of China, including LIU Wei, President, LONG Yonghong, Director of the Registrar’s Office, SHI Yan’an, Director of the International Office, ZHAO Yulin, Vice Director of the Development and Planning Office, LIU Jinlong, Vice Director of the Research Office, and ZHANG Jiangtao, Vice Director of the Financial Office.
President LIU Wei delivered welcome remarks, and gave a brief overview of the university and the school’s background and recent developments, and stressed the great impact of EQUIS accreditation on management education and school development.
Prof. Dusan Mramor, chair of the peer review team, introduced the team and the key criteria of EQUIS. He is full professor of finance at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubijana, and former Minister of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia. Other members of the team included Prof. Baris Tan, Vice President of Koc University, Prof. Edward J. Snape, Dean of the School of Business Hong Kong Baptist University, and Mr. Patrice De Fournas, partner of Jouve & Associés.
Prof. Dusan Mramor spoke highly of the school’s contributions to management education, and recapped the dialogues the peer review team had with school stakeholders and administrators. He also pointed out the school’s weaknesses in hard facilities and internationalization. President LIU Wei told the peer review team that the university will allocate multiple resources to support school development and contribute to global education with top quality research and educational programs rooted in Chinese practice, continuous improvement, and internationalization. He also thanked the peer review team for their suggestions and insights that would certainly help the school realize its vision---“to become a world-class business school as the expert in Chinese management”.
The peer review team also had meetings with a variety of stakeholders including faculty, students, staff, alumni, and external community representatives. Renmin Business School will continue to build on its strengths and further enhance internationalization, program quality, international visibility, and internal governance.
EQUIS is operated by the Quality Services Unit of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), supported by a broad international body of academics and professionals. EFMD is an international membership organisation based in Brussels, Belgium. The fundamental objective of EQUIS, linked to the mission of EFMD, is to raise the standard of management education worldwide.
Renmin Business School officially became a member of EFMD in Nov. 2007, and was accredited by EQUIS for 3 years in Mar. 2010 and 5 years (till Feb. 2019) in Oct. 2013. The peer review team visited the school on Dec.11-13, 2018 for evaluation on reaccreditation.
